George Augustus Robinson was appointed Protector of Aborigines in Van Diemen's land and in the Port Phillip district in the 1830s and 1840s. He wasn't much of a protector! In truth, no individual could have done much better. There was a war on: a battle over the land, in which the Aboriginal people were outnumbered and outgunned. On the positive side, George did try to understand the culture and language of the Aboriginal people with whom he came into contact. Not many others did! This little book is a small step towards righting an old wrong.
